Deontay Wilder has been closely linked with two upcoming marquee fights. One is against Brit, Anthony Joshua, scheduled for later in the year, and more immediately he’s been in talks fight Andy Ruiz Jr.
The WBC’s number one and two ranked heavyweights have been in negotiations for a while, with plenty of public back and forth between ‘The Bronze Bomber’ and ‘The Destroyer.’
Speaking to ESNEWS, Wilder claimed that the ‘AJ’ fight was looking ‘very promising’, before scolding Ruiz and his 50/50 purse split demands.
“That’s [Joshua fight] looking very promising, very promising.
I also got other offers as well from overseas so nobody need to worry about who I fight because my life is very, very great, understand that. Don’t worry about who I fight cause I could fight anybody in the world, they would love to see me come in they country, and love to see me in the States.
Andy [Ruiz] that ain’t so much the case so they got to really think about this situation they in. They talking about a 50-50, you ain’t nobody compared to me bro, you was only a champion for a very short time so stop that.”
Alabama native Wilder has yet to fight this year. His last outing was an impressive first-round knockout of Robert Helenius, a whole year after the second of two knockout losses to Tyson Fury.
Andy Ruiz has been similarly inactive, fighting just once in 2022 when he outpointed Luis ‘King Kong’ Ortiz, and once in 2021 when he got a unanimous points win over Chris Arreloa six months after losing his IBF, IBO, WBA and WBO world heavyweight belts to Joshua.
