Derek Chisora Names The One Heavyweight “Everyone Wants To Fight”

Although big fights in the top division don’t get made as often as fans would like, Derek Chisora maintains there is one heavyweight ‘everyone wants.’

For many years, the marquee fights between the likes of Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, and Joshua and Deontay Wilder have evaded fans for various reasons from purse splits to mandatory obligations to someone losing.

But right now, the division seem to be on the cusp of two of those fights happening with Joshua and Wilder deep in talks all year for a coming together in early 2024, and Usyk and Fury seemingly with only a few barriers between them getting together to find out who is the current number one heavyweight on the planet.

Speaking to IFL TV, long-time British heavyweight favourite, Chisora, was asked whether he saw the Joshua and Wilder fight coming off.

“Yeh. But what day we don’t know yet.”

He was then asked if Joshua might have a fight in the interim.

“Yes. But what you have to understand is Wilder is here, Tyson Fury is here, AJ’s up here [reaching his hand up high].

Them two want to fight AJ. AJ is in the driving seat. What AJ has to do is sit down on the sofa, wait for the phone call. Fury wants to fight him. Wilder wants to fight him. Everyone wants to fight him cause he’s a big attraction.”

It was then suggested even Chisora wanted to fight Joshua.

“Me? I’d fight him every day, bro. I call him up every day, you wanna fight? But who knows, we never know.”

Rumours started to spread yesterday that Joshua and Wilder talks had been halted and that Joshua was looking towards a fight with Fury.
