Fresh from his comeback victory over Christian Hammer earlier this month, Dillian Whyte has now cast his eye over the upcoming undisputed heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
Fury and Usyk do battle in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on May 18, as they look to crown a first undisputed champion in the heavyweight division in nearly 25 years.
The first was originally scheduled to take place in February, until a cut sustained by Fury around a fortnight before the bout meant it had to be pushed back three months to the current date.
The build-up is now in full flow, with the full undercard for the event announced this week, and Whyte found it tough to pick a definitive winner whilst talking to Boxing Social.
“I’m struggling to make a prediction for that fight. It’s very hard to pick. You can make a case for both guys and it’s a 50-50 match-up. It’s a case of who wants it more, and who has done the right things in training.”
Whyte also dismissed claims that Fury is ‘over the hill’, insisting that it will be a different animal against Usyk that fans saw against Ngannou.
“Fury wakes up for real fights. He wont train for Usyk the same way he trained for Ngannou. You could see that as he was in shape when the Usyk fight got rescheduled.”
It’s set to be a busy few days for Whyte, as his managed-fighter Fabio Wardley prepares to defend his British heavyweight title against Frazer Clarke at The O2 Arena in London on Sunday, live on Sky Sports.
