Jermaine Franklin, who faces Dillian Whyte on November 26, has been getting some work in with the WBC Heavyweight Champion of the World.
Franklin, from Michigan USA, in undefeated in his professional boxing campaign. Whilst his 21 victories with 14 knockouts matter, though, it’s fair to say that Dillian Whyte is the biggest step up in opposition by quite a way. One way Franklin may be trying to remedy not facing the same people as Whyte in the ring is making sure he does so in the gym.
The up-and-coming heavyweight is in the UK preparing for the scrap, and recently found himself in a gym in Morecambe – more specifically, the training camp of Tyson Fury. Franklin appears to have sparred both the Champion and prospect David Adeleye on his visit. During the experience, according to Metro, he asked how to beat Whyte.
“I have joined up with Tyson’s camp. I tell you I learned a lot on the first day. I realised what many do not believe or want to believe – I can compete with the Tyson Fury’s of the heavyweight division. He is the best, but I believe I have skills and talent to be a champion also.”
“Being in his camp, in this brief period of time, I have learned how to run a camp, how to prepare, and also humble myself to ask other boxers about how they are successful. Yes I will ask and have asked Fury about how to beat Whyte.”
Whilst rounds with ‘The Gypsy King’ are always going to be beneficial, the fact that he knocked Whyte out in six rounds at Wembley in April – the very fight that put Whyte on this comeback trail – also adds some spice to the mix. Has Fury been giving any tips as to how to land that fight-ending uppercut?

The home fighter is taking his preparation seriously, too. He’s recently linked up with trainer, Buddy McGirt, and has been hitting gyms in American for some stateside sparring with the likes of Gerald Washington.
Whyte faces Franklin on November 26 at Wembley Arena in London. When the fight was announced, ‘The Bodysnatcher’ said he was going to teach his opponent quite a few lessons in the ring, most importantly ‘how to lose.’
