Rising young heavyweight star Daniel Dubois (3-0, 3 KO’s) steps back into the ring this weekend at the Copper Box Arena In London. On July 8th, Dubois will fight against Julian Fernandez (5-0, 3 Ko’s) for the vacant WBC Youth World heavyweight title.
The Mexican opponent has a bit more rounds under his belt than Dubois and clearly is up for the challenge to take on ‘Dynamite’. The 19-year old British fighter isn’t exactly on everyone’s wish list due to his big potential and size. Simply put: a lot of fighters avoid him.
“I’ve heard it has been very difficult finding me an opponent. Not a lot of guys want to get in the ring with me, I must be doing something right! There is still a long way to go, but I believe I will be number one in the world some day,” said Dubois according to worldboxingnews.net.
Dubois has been demolishing opponents ever since he first stepped into professional boxing. All of his bouts have ended before the third round and obviously by way of knockout.
Hats of to Fernandez for accepting the fight and flying over all the way from Mexico. On the weekend we will see how he’ll deal with the power of Dubois.
Dubois first started gaining popularity when word got around that he dropped Anthony Joshua in sparring. He has not confirmed nor denied the rumour about him flooring the current unified heavyweight champion.
