Eddie Hearn has spoken out about his hotly anticipated interview with Simon Jordan, and admits he may have to set out some ground rules for the former Crystal Palace chairman.
After longstanding calls from fans, Hearn will appear on Jordan’s morning Talksport slot and, given the fact there has been talk of a fight between the pair in the past, many are anticipating the segment to be box office entertainment.
Speaking to Boxing Social, Hearn said he would be happy to answer the radio host’s questions, but admitted he is concerned about being spoken over by the combative Jordan.
“I might have to set out some ground rules before we start. You’ve got to let me speak. What he does is, he talks over you.”
“He’s a very good debater, as am I, and I’m happy to answer his questions.”
“The thing that frustrates me the most is that he would have done exactly the same thing as me. I don’t think he understands the dynamics that we don’t run the sport of boxing. The sport of boxing in the UK is run by the British Boxing Board of Control, so I want to explain a lot of that.”
“I’m sure it will be heated, I’m sure it will be great entertainment, and I look forward to delivering the biggest numbers on Talksport for some time.”
The topic of Conor Benn is expected to dominate the interview, with Jordan having been a vocal critic of both Hearn and Benn’s handling of the situation following his two failed VADA tests last year.
With an announcement on Benn’s comeback fight seemingly imminent, fans are expecting Hearn to receive his toughest grilling to date on the young star’s case.
