It’s no secret that promoter Eddie Hearn is not the biggest fan of David Haye. The two have had their fair share of back and forth trash talk during the whole Haye-Bellew saga.
Before the first fight, Haye promised to wipe Matchroom boxing off the map while Hearn claimed ‘The Hayemaker’ was desperate for money.
After the previous Bellew-Haye press conference, Hearn went into detail on why he doesn’t see Haye being the superstar he once was.
11 days until #HayeBellew2 – I’m in the shape of my life & looking forward to showing the boxing fans #TheRematch was well worth the wait. This camp has been brutal at times but I’ve learnt so much I’ve relished every second. I have no doubt it will all be worth it! #Revenge 👊🏾 pic.twitter.com/I6MpIHbC1d

“David has always had that aura of a superstar and I just don’t feel it anymore. I think that one of Haye’s best attributes is his confidence and belief to fight like that. I feel so confidently that Tony Bellew is going to beat him again. I just think that Haye’s confidence must be low. Confidence in his body, confidence in his boxing ability and his timing and power. All the things that used to make him so tough to beat I don’t think he has that anymore,” said Hearn to Boxing Social.
In a more recent interview with Boxing Social, when asked about who has more to lose in the upcoming anticipated rematch, Hearn’s answer was clear.
“David Haye. Tony feels like he’s won already. He’s won a world title at Goodison [Park], he’s defended it. He’s got the box office fight against David Haye, he’s won that. So Haye is fighting a hundred per cent for his career in that fight,” told the promoter.

Haye has clearly toned down his trash talk and he will try to stay as calm as possible until fight night.
But Hearn won’t make it easy during fight week.
“He’s [Haye] so determined. I see it in his eyes and how much it is hurting him to not say what he wants to say about Tony Bellew. He’s trying so hard to stay calm, focused, and not let Bellew wind him up.
“Wait for fight week next. It’s going to be a lot of fun. We are all gonna try to get under David’s skin and rattle him about a little bit because we want a tear up,” Hearn summarised.
