There were rumours last week that the first boxing match could be about to be unveiled at the Sphere in Las Vegas but that news has caused a rival promoter to send a big warning to Eddie Hearn.
The pair first battled it out in a full Madison Square Garden in New York when Taylor took a close and rather disputed split points win over Serrano and there has been plenty of animosity between the two ever since.
Since then, Taylor has fought Chantelle Cameron twice – first losing her titles, then winning them back in the rematch, and has been rumoured to once again return to Dublin for a trilogy fight to settle the score though that has now been put aside.
Meanwhile, most recently Serrano had to pull out of her scheduled contest with Nina Meinke in Puerto Rico with a freak eye injury resulting from hair dye used in the run-up to the contest so is looking to swiftly get back in action.
Speaking at the UFC 300 post-fight press conference, the king of the MMA world Dana White suggested Hearn won’t be able to hold an event at The Sphere until after the UFC have in September.
“I love Eddie Hearn. I consider him a friend. Ain’t happening. Sorry buddy, you can go in the Sphere in October.”
It seems that Hearn might have a fight on his hands if he wants to be the first official combat event to take place at The Sphere.
