Former IBF Super-Middleweight Champion, Caleb Truax, is far from impressed by the footage that has been released ahead of Francis Ngannou’s boxing debut, where he will fight the current WBC Heavyweight king, Tyson Fury.
Truax stunned the home crowd in London when he defeated James DeGale by majority-decision in 2017 to claim world honours in a major upset, with Truax overcoming odds of 16/1 against. However, just five months later, ‘Golden’ would lose his belt, as he was outpointed in his rematch with DeGale in Las Vegas.
The 40-year-old has taken to social media to share his disappointment at recently released footage of Francis Ngannou, who despite his lack of boxing experience, is set to headline in one of the sports’ stand-out blockbuster events of the year, whether fans like it or not.
Truax called Ngannou’s jab from a training clip ‘as awful as it could be’.
That's as awful as a jab can be… https://t.co/QQbjGRAvEX

Ngannou has amassed eleven stoppage wins in his fourteen UFC fights, with nine of those coming as a result of punches. With a lifelong dream of competing in the boxing ring, it seemed inevitable that the Cameroonian would eventually make the switch from mixed martial arts, although few expected it to be against the current heavyweight champion.
‘The Predator’ will battle Fury as a major underdog, but has given himself every chance of shocking the world by appointing three-time champion and heavyweight legend, Mike Tyson as his trainer, although based off of the recently footage, Truax believes that ‘Iron Mike’ has his work cut out for him if Ngannou is to have any chance of defeating ‘The Gypsy King’.
Fury-Ngannou takes place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on October 28th, headlining a card that’s set to feature three further heavyweight clashes and is available to watch live on TNT Sports Box Office in the UK and ESPN+ PPV in the US.
