As the final countdown to Anthony Joshua and Otto Wallin begins, Carl Froch has predicted a knockout finish.
This is Joshua’s third fight in 2023 after wins over Robert Helenius and Jermaine Franklin – his most active 12 months since way back in 2016.
That represents a good return for a former two-time world heavyweight champion looking to get back on track after back-to-back defeats against Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022.
Wallin does present something of a challenge in that he is a southpaw, like Usyk, and has enough skills to have pushed Tyson Fury across 12 competitive rounds back in 2019.
An impressive win would help Joshua build momentum and create excitement for the potential showdown with Deontay Wilder sometime next year. That is, of course, only if Wilder also wins on the Day of Reckoning card this weekend against Joseph Parker.
Speaking to TNT Sports Boxing, Froch was asked how the Joshua and Wallin fight might end.
“I’d like to think that Anthony Joshua can do a job against Wallin. I can see how AJ gets outboxed and could lose on points and get manoeuvred around if he doesn’t go for it. But I expect AJ to really go for it, put it on him and put him away, that’s my prediction.”
