The latest ‘Tha Boxing Voice podcast’ offered us a conversation between Eddie Hearn, Deontay Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel, and Wilder himself, but one guest a bit late to the party was Tyson Fury.
After Hearn and Finkel were done discussing their possible meeting in New York, Fury was put on air and he congratulated Wilder for his performance against Bermane Stiverne this past weekend in which Wilder knocked his mandatory challenger out in the first round.
“First of all, congratulations Bomb Squad! Excellent job. Second of all, please don’t fight ‘AJ’! You’re going to take my 50 million dollars, just like you done Stiverne,” joked Fury.
Wilder quickly replied:
“We both want him [Joshua]. I want him, the world wants it. I’m gonna take him out and then throw him to the UK and you can finish him off,” he said.
Fury came back with the following:
“I don’t want no second best. I’m like a playa’, I smell p*ssy!”
Wilder then said he wants Joshua first since Fury got to fight Wladimir Klitschko first in November 2015.
“You had the opportunity that I didn’t get with Klitschko. You got him first. So let me take Joshua first and then I’ll slide him to you,” proposed Wilder.
Fury immediately gave the green light to the WBC World heavyweight champion.
“If you get the deal done, you do it. You take him out in style. Listen, get it done. No problem and then you fight ‘The Gypsy King’ in the fight of all fights. You put on an excellent performance on Saturday night. In Joshua, I see someone who has put on weight, stands flat footed and take some big bombs and end up on the floor,” commented Fury.
At this point of the conversation, Wilder brought up the bad press that Fury has been getting in the past from UK media. The WBC champion said the UK boxing audience should ‘put more respect’ on Fury’s name since he feels Fury started the current mainstream interest in boxing.
“My man, tell England to put some respect on your family name. Because if it weren’t for you, England wouldn’t be what it is. You started that thing. You the king of England. You got it. You did it. They should know that. I wanna see you come back to the sport. We need you. Let’s do this,” told Wilder
Hearn then joined the conversation again.
“The biggest fight in Britain is Tyson Fury against Anthony Joshua no question. You [Tyson] better hurry up because this Wilder fight might happen sooner than later. We want you back in the heavyweight game because let’s be honest Joshua, Wilder, who else? Dillian Whyte could mix it? Parker? The more the merrier. Get back in that gym my friend,” said Hearn.
Fury didn’t offer much of a response and talked about the division being popular at the moment.
“Lets’ get the party started. This heavyweight division is heating up right now. The heavyweight division is heating right up,” said Fury.
