Lightweight star Gervonta Davis has revealed what Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn offered him for the Conor Benn fight, posting a screenshot of the email that was sent to his representative.
After Benn’s victory over Peter Dobson earlier this month, the Brit was involved in a back and forth on social media with Davis, with each fighter insisting they would take the fight.
Hearn claimed to have offered ‘Tank’ a figure of $25 million for the bout, but then revealed this week that it hadn’t been accepted and they were now looking for alternative opponents for Benn.
Davis has now taken to X to show why he abandoned the Benn fight, revealing that the guaranteed offer from Hearn was not $25 million.
Hearn: “Gervonta asked me to contact you regarding our offer to fight Conor Benn. We would like to talk further regarding this fight and our plan would be to stage this fight in May in the USA.
“We would offer $10million plus an upside on the gate and PPV that I would like to discuss further with you. Do you have a good time to discuss this week? Kind regards, Eddie.”
Benn hit back at Davis on X, suggesting that the money on the table was more than what the American initially thought.
“Clearly gervumpalumpa doesn’t know what upside means.”
While the trash talk between ‘Tank’ and Benn does continue, Davis is set for a showdown with fellow undefeated lightweight Frank Martin instead, with the pair reported to meet for the WBA lightweight title this summer.
