Gennady Golovkin’s trainer, Abel Sanchez has stressed that Canelo and Golovkin must meet again to add clarity to the middleweight scene for the “good of boxing.”
Both Canelo and Golovkin’s promoters are believed to be hashing out the final lingering details ahead of a rematch that will see Canelo and Golovkin meet on May 5th, the Mexican ‘Cinco De Mayo’ holiday weekend.
The fight is believed to be, being discussed to take place once again in Las Vegas at The T-Mobile Arena.
Canelo and Golovkin fought their first fight to a split decision draw.
Many had felt Golovkin had done more than enough to earn the decision after dictating the tempo of the fight and furthermore throwing more and landing more than his Mexican rival.
Talking about how Golovkin has reacted in the long run to that draw verdict, Sanchez added:
“When the fight ends, I usually let them go after being with me for 10 weeks, I let them live their lives.”

“He is with his family right now, but he is going to return this coming week, but I do not know how the negotiations are going.”
“That question is for Tom Loeffler but I’m looking for to get us that fight,” Sanchez said.
Touching on the first fight, Sanchez took aim at the Mexican’s tactics and says that if Canelo had decided to stand his ground, he knows he wouldn’t have lived to tell the tale metaphorically.
“He knew [Canelo] were going to knock him out if he stopped, Golovkin still have a lot to give.”
