Heavyweight prospect Damian Knyba (5-0, 3 KOs) is chasing the American Dream and is hoping to make his U.S. debut later this year, with a view to signing a deal with a promoter based in the States.
The 25-year-old may be a relative unknown at present, but is highly regarded within the sport. Standing at 6’7”, and possessing the largest wingspan of any active boxer at 86”, Knyba’s services have been in high-demand as a sparring partner. The Pole has shared a ring with a variety of top contenders in the heavyweight and cruiserweight divisions, including: Adam Kownacki, Otto Wallin, Jerrell Miller, Mariusz Wach, Filip Hrgovic and Michal Cieslak.
The ‘Polish Hussar’ picked up the fifth straight win of his professional career by stopping Aazddin Aajour in the opening round of the bout, last Friday. Despite the absence of household names on the card staged by RBK Promotions, the show produced strong viewing figures.
Eryk Rachwal of RBK Promotions was quick to praise the professionalism of Knyba, who Rachwal believes is beginning to generate interest on talent alone.
“In a time where some boxers have turned boxing into a circus for attention, Damian has proved that with hard work, and determination you can still make noise,” Rachwal told Boxing Social. “As a first time headliner for our show in Poland we had over 100k views. We had no big names on our card, but Damian proved people still value talent and modesty. Who wouldn’t be excited to see the longest reach in boxing on display? I suggest you tune in to Damian’s next fight 4 March and see for yourself the future of Polish heavyweight boxing.”
Knyba’s manager, Łukasz Kownacki, believes his boxer has a bright future ahead and is hoping to secure opportunities for the former Polish Youth Amatuer champion to showcase his skills in the U.S. before signing a contract with a major promoter.
“We have big plans for Damian long-term,” Kownacki said. “He has the potential and I think everyone sees he has the physical tools necessary to be great. However, it’s important we take things step-by-step and not rush too quick. He will be coming to the USA soon to make noise and move up the rankings. While RBK Promotions has been a great stepping stone, expect to see Damian with one of the top promotions in the USA in the not-too-distant future.”
