Although his comeback fight against Jermaine Franklin was designed to put doubts over Anthony Joshua’s mentality to bed, if anything his performance that night amplified them, as he boxed his way to a somewhat flat unanimous decision victory.
It was Joshua’s first fight under new trainer Derrick James, with whom he has been working with in Dallas since the start of this year.
However, ‘AJ’s old adversary and undefeated American heavyweight, Jarrell Miller, has warned him that working under James will not give him heart, before going on a very much post watershed tirade on BroBible.
“Texas can’t teach you no heart. ‘Uncle D’ [Derrick James] is my man out there in Texas, but he can’t teach you heart.”
“You’re always going to be a p***y. You were born a p****y, you look like a p***y and you smell like a p***y.”
It looks like Miller isn’t in the mood for letting bygones be bygones just yet.
‘Big Baby’ was just weeks out from fighting Joshua at Madison Square Garden back in 2019, however a failed drugs test quickly saw him ruled out of the bout, with Andy Ruiz Jr being brought in as the replacement opponent.
Eddie Hearn has repeatedly stated since that he would not work with Miller again and has thus also been on the end of some less than flattering comments from the the 34-year-old.
Miller also claimed Joshua has no intention of taking on his countryman Deontay Wilder, and is using talk of a Saudi showdown simply for “clout.”
Maybe Miller is somehow privy to more information than the rest of us, but from the outside looking in, this does not seem to be the case.
Hearn claims to have been “guaranteed” by Skill Challenge that the blockbuster will happen, although an official deal has not yet been agreed.
