Heavyweight Vows To ‘Destroy’ Anthony Joshua: “Im Better At Everything”

Anthony Joshua isn’t short of options for his next fight, with a heap of heavyweight contenders calling his name.

However, few are more confident of defeating ‘AJ’ than IBF mandatory challenger, Filip Hrgovic.

Following his unanimous decision victory over Jermaine Franklin, Joshua has already spoken about getting back into the ring in just a few months time and there a plenty of suitors lining up to face him.

Dillian Whyte and Otto Wallin appear to be amongst the favourites, but Hrgovic has now confidently thrown his hat into the ring.

In an interview with ID Boxing, a self-assertive Hrgovic portrayed the role of the Ivan Drago-esque villain at ringside, announcing his plans to ‘destroy’ the Brit, especially if he performs as he did against Franklin.

“I destroy him. I think I destroy him. If he comes in this shape, I’ll destroy him.”

When ‘El Animal’ was quizzed on why he was so confident, he calmly and bold listed what he believes to be his superior attributes.

“My boxing skill, my chin, my speed, my power, everything.”

As much as Hrgovic would seemingly jump at the opportunity to fight Anthony Joshua, he did go on to admit that the most appealing fight for him is against unified champion, Oleksandr Usyk.

For now, it seems Usyk is destined to fight WBA mandatory challenger, Daniel Dubois, however question marks surrounding the youngster’s fitness could mean that Hrgovic could step in and fight for the WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight titles.

In a similar style to his Joshua callout, Hrgovic claimed that he would have no issues dealing with the former undisputed cruiserweight champion, who he believes to be “too small”.
