Tyson Fury shocked the boxing world yet again with his retirement announcement. He ended his Instagram post in all caps saying ‘THE END’. But people close to Tyson are not so sure about his latest declaration. His longtime trainer and uncle Peter Fury pondered depression might be getting the best of his fighter again.
Younger cousin Hughie Fury has now also spoken up about Tyson’s decision. He believes the former world heavyweight champion is not retired.
“No definitely not, he’ll wake himself up sooner or later and he’ll come and join me and (we will) rule the division together,” said Fury according to the Daily Mail.
Just like his uncle, Hughie Fury also suspects that Tyson had a bad day. A common theme seems to be that Tyson hasn’t received enough praise for his win over Wladimir Klitschko back in 2015 when he last fought.
“I think you will see Tyson again, I think he’s just probably in one of his down days. Maybe it was just the praise, he never got enough praise (for the win) or something and I think depression has sunk in big time and I think it’s affected him big time. So I hope to God he gets back right and back to positive thinking,” commented Fury.
Hughie Fury will be fighting Joseph Parker next for the WBO heavyweight title on September 23rd at Manchester Arena.
