The new date has been announced for the super-lightweight showdown between Jack Catterall and Regis Prograis.
Catterall was set to face Prograis at the new Co-Op Live arena in Manchester on August 24th, but was forced out of the contest last week after suffering an injury during his training camp.
The fight has been able to be salvaged though, after it was confirmed that it will go ahead on a new date of October 26, once again at the same venue in Manchester.
Catterall is pleased that the fight will still take place, and is excited to become the first boxer to headline an event at Co-Op Live.
“I’m delighted that a new date for my fight with Regis Prograis has been sorted so quickly. Big thanks to Matchroom, my team and Co-op Live for all of their hard work on this. To be the first boxer to headline at Co-op Live is going to be special and I’m really happy I’ll still get that opportunity.
“It was gutting having to pull out of a fight for the first time in my 30-fight career but I need to be fit and healthy going into one of the most important contests of my life. Thanks for everyone’s continues support and I’ll see you all on October 26.”
Catterall heads into the fight on the back of a victory over long-time rival Josh Taylor, defeating the Scotsman by unanimous decision at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on May 25th.
It saw ‘El Gato’ finally gain revenge after suffering a controversial split decision defeat to Taylor back in February 2022 at the Hydro in Glasgow, with the undisputed super-lightweight titles on the line on that occasion.
No world title belts were on the line in the rematch, with Catterall hoping that a win over Prograis can see him move a step closer to achieving his dream and becoming world champion.
Prograis was last in action in December, where he lost his WBC super-lightweight title to Devin Haney in a one-sided unanimous decision defeat in San Francisco.
One of the fights that was set to take place on the original Catterall vs. Prograis card in August was Rhiannon Dixon defending her WBO lightweight title against Terri Harper, but it has been announced that the fight will now be added to the Dalton Smith undercard in Sheffield in September.
