The prospect of seeing YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul taking on the once ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ Mike Tyson, has already got the world talking and the addition of a modern-day classic makes the event a must-see even for the most anti-crossover boxing fans. Yet, further fuel has now been added to the card, with one of the sports’ greatest prospects set to make an appearance.
Paul and Tyson will go head-to-head as they headline what is expected to be one of the most viewed cards of the year, despite the fact that the main-event will be an exhibition, with Tyson claiming that those official rules will not derail his mean intentions.
Speaking to MMA Fighting, Golden Boy Promoter Oscar De La Hoya revealed that one of his up and coming talents will also likely feature on the card, to further whet the appetite of the boxing purist.
“They’re also talking to us about putting one of my kids also on the card, two undefeated fighters – Kid Austin.”
‘Kid Austin’, also known as Floyd Schofield, won number national titles across a action-packed amateur career with over 200 bouts to his name by the time he turned professional at the age of 18.
Since then, Schofield has worked his way up the lightweight rankings by continue his activity and scoring 17 wins with 12 knockouts at just 21 years of age and is now ranked as high as fourth in the WBA rankings.
This will be the first time that Schofield has faced an undefeated opponent, barring his debut where he took on a fellow debutant, as the youngster seeks to steal one of 2024’s biggest shows, live on Netflix on July 20th.
