Jermell Charlo has once again had a pop at Terence Crawford, criticising the three weight world champion’s resume and imploring him to “jump to the big leagues.”
A stablemate of future Crawford opponent Errol Spence Jr, Charlo has never been shy of criticising ‘Bud,’ with some of the back and forth between the pair surpassing even that of Crawford and Spence himself.
In a recent interview with ESNews, ‘Iron Man’ was not shy in sending some more trash talk the way of WBO world welterweight champion Crawford.
“I ain’t going to say he’s fought nobody, but come on. These people were old, Amir Khan didn’t want no more smoke, s*** like that was going on. They put that little Russian in front of him and he got clocked.”
“Jump to the big leagues, with the PBC gang. You know who’s running boxing right now, who’s paying the big cheques.”
Charlo holds all four belts at light middleweight, and the prospect of Crawford moving up and fighting him after Spence would surely have boxing fans across the planet salivating.
After years of failed negotiations, playing the blame game and causing the pugilistic public to pull their hair out, Spence and Crawford finally agreed terms to settle their differences and, more importantly, establish who the best welterweight in the world is.
With both men having now entered their mid thirties, fans across the world were losing hope that the historic undisputed fight would ever take place, especially given the promotional and broadcaster barriers that have always seemed stand between the two.
However, social media went into overdrive last month when the legacy defining clash was officially announced for the T-Mobile Arena on July 29th.
