Joe Joyce didn’t waste any time making his next intentions clear after calling out two big name heavyweights for a fight following his knockout win over Kash Ali on Saturday.
Joyce was back in action for the first time since his back-to-back stoppage defeats to Zhilei Zhang last year, facing Ali at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham.
Many onlookers expected Joyce to deal with Ali with ease, but it proved to be slightly trickier than some thought, with the first appearing to be heading to the scorecards.
Joyce finally found the shot that ended it in the tenth round though, earning the knockout to return to winning ways. Speaking to Queensberry after the fight, the 38-year-old discussed a potential rematch with Joseph Parker, but also called out two big names.
“I’m coming for everyone. I feel like I’m an elite fighter and I’m ready for all comers. There’s a lot of improvements I can make in the next camp. This is the first fight for the year and it’s off to a good start.
“I thought I’d get him out a bit quicker but he was good and tricky and had a high guard. He hit me with some overhand rights so there is plenty more improvements to make in training.
“It was difficult to nail him. My team said afterwards he’d never been stopped so that’s something good, and now I’m looking forward to the next fight and getting more wins under my belt.
“With how well Joseph Parker did that would be a good rematch, but there are plenty of good fights at the top level. I’m ready to fight anyone. Dillian Whyte might be a good one, Deontay Wilder is a good name as well, I’m ready for everyone.”
Whyte returns to action this evening against Christian Hammer in Ireland, while Wilder’s future is less certain, although Tyson Fury has teased news regarding the ‘Bronze Bomber’s’ next bout.
