Chisora is a seasoned veteran who many fans have been expecting to retire for months although he has always said he thought he had one last big fight if the right man was offered to him.
‘Del Boy’ was last seen in action in August of last year, when he secured a decision victory over fellow veteran Gerald Washington. The 40-year-old Chisora, with a hard-fought record of 34-13 (23 KOs), has fought the likes of Tyson Fury three times, Carlos Takam, Oleksandr Usyk, Dillian Whyte twice and many more.
Meanwhile, Joyce bounced back from his second back-to-back loss to Zhilei Zhang with what was a rather underwhelming late stoppage win over Kash Ali earlier in the year.
While Joyce, nicknamed ‘The Juggernaut,’ may have less wear and tear on his body and brain compared to Chisora, at age 38, he’s not significantly younger than his opponent. Additionally, Joyce, currently standing at 16-2 (15 KOs), moves at a similarly slow pace to Chisora so this one would be a real slug fest.

It has been revealed to be taking place on July 27 at London’s O2 Arena as part of one of Frank Warren’s summer Queensberry shows.
Back in April, Joyce spoke about the possibility of this fight.
“Derek Chisora is a possibility and is a big name to add to the list. I wanted to fight Derek Chisora earlier on in my career when I was with David Haye and Ringstar Promotions, but he wasn’t willing to fight me. He even said to my face that he didn’t want to fight me so we will see but I wanted to fight him before.
“I think he didn’t want to fight me back then because if he had lost to me back then he wouldn’t have had the other fights he had with the likes of Carlos Takam after the time we could’ve fought. I’m confident in my abilities if we were to fight though and I believe I will knock him out.”
Although no significant belts will be on the line, this all British heavyweight fight could well prove to be an entertaining coming together with the loser surely left with nowhere to go, and the winner back in the mix once more.
