Jorge Linares is just ten days away from the biggest fight of his life.
The Venezuelan 32-year-old champion will put his WBA and Lineal lightweight world title on the line when he faces off with 2-time Olympic champion, Vasyl Lomachenko.
Lomachenko is undeniably considered by many as the standout pugilist in the current climate of the sport. He is the pound-for-pound number one and will bid to claim his third world title in his bow in the 135 lbs division.
This comes after seeing the last four challengers to his 130 lbs world title surrender before Lomachenko provided the finish that he wanted to.
Linares knows he has a sizeable task on his hands but he believes that he will have enough in his locker to combat what Lomachenko brings to the table.

“Everyday we have put in a little bit more strategy to knock off and defeat Vasyl Lomachenko,” Linares said.
Analysing what problems will pose in the ring, Lomachenko touched on his opponent’s speed and precision. But, the former 3-weight world champion claims there is no such thing as a ‘perfect boxer.’
“He is very good, fast and precise.”
“He has a lot of good qualities but there isn’t such thing as a perfect boxer.”
Linares has taken confidence knowing that Orlando Salido has already proven that the Ukranian phenomenon is a beatable opponent.

Like I always say, ‘if someone else already beat him why don’t I beat him this time?’ Linares explained.
Linares has suffered three losses over the course of his 47 fight career. But, the Venezuelan has put together a streak of 13 victories back-to-back to cement his rise to the top of the lightweight division.
“I have lost three times but I have gotten up and taken care of myself.

“Now I have like seven or eight defences of my title.”
“The idea is to keep working hard and giving my best.”
Linares was last in the ring when he defeated the game but untested Filipino, Mercito Gesta over the course of 12 rounds in a lacklustre affair.
“I am working double or triple as much as I did for the fight against Mercito Gesta because this is the opportunity that I have dreamed of.”
Why should I lose it now when I have all of the abilities needed to defeat Vasyl Lomachenko?”
