Anthony Joshua is scheduled to defend his WBA, IBO, IBF titles against IBF’s mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev. The stage is set for October 28th at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
The Bulgarian will be boxing in Joshua’s land for the first ever since ‘The Cobra’ has never fought on UK soil before.
The home-crowd hero that is Joshua promises to do his best to cement his status as the current king of heavyweight boxing against the rugged Bulgarian.
“I think he matches jab for jab and leans back in the eastern European style. I’ll have to show him I’m the bully in the ring, and I’m the king of boxing,” said Joshua to Sky Sports.
But aside from the verbal flexing, the heavyweight champion understands that his upcoming opponent is no joke. Pulev has lost only once against a world champion Wladimir Klitschko.
“He had Wladimir going at one stage when he fought him and people forget that. I’ve got to be grounded. I’m defending the world title and it’s a serious business. No matter what I watch on YouTube they always seem to bring 30 per cent more when they come to face me in the ring. I’ve got to be prepared for a hungry and ferocious Pulev,” told the heavyweight champ.
As for Joshua’s prediction for the fight? Well, it should not come as a surprise to anyone.
“If I can, I’d like to secure my 20th victory with my 20th knockout.”
