According to the latest reports, Amir Khan is definitely not going anywhere from professional boxing.
Many believe Khan’s latest turmoil with his soon to be ex-wife and long inactivity from the ring are the leading causes why he will never get his career back on track again. But the Bolton native disagrees and is back at it in San Francisco.
In a recent interview with the Mirror, Khan opened up about his career and future plans.
He confirmed that he will fight at least four or five times within the next two years. He is also reportedly going through an expensive divorce with his ex-wife, Faryal Khan Makhdoom who is pregnant with the couples second child.
“There’s always ups and downs in life and it’s how you come through it. This has only given me the chance now to focus more on boxing. This is where people are going to start saying, ‘Amir’s going to fail now. We want to see him fail, he’s not going to be the same again with all these distractions.’ I’m going to have to now prove people wrong by going in there and staying on top,” said Khan.
Despite a tough loss against in his latest fight against Canelo and over a year long hiatus, Khan claimed he’s hitting his prime as a boxer. He also talked about his next possible fight.
“I’m at the peak of my career now,” told Khan.
Khan has been linked to fights with Danny Garcia and Lamont Peterson.
“I want to fight end of November or early December. After my first fight back, I’d love to go into a fight with Lamont Peterson because he’s got the WBA title,” he explained.
The 30-year boxer hasn’t seen any boxing action since May of 2016. Khan has confirmed being in talks with promoter Al Haymon about his next bout in the ring.
