“The impossible deal is done,” said UFC President Dana White on Sportscenter.
After months and months of countless speculation and rumoured dates, the fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor is officially – official.
Both parties announced the bout on Wednesday and the date will be the previously mentioned August 26th in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mayweather announced the fight on Instagram with the words “it’s official”.
McGregor also made an announcement on Instagram but with a notorious twist.
This will be Mayweather’s first fight since 2015 when he fought Andre Berto and won via unanimous decision. The 40-year old is looking to get one last win to his name in order to achieve a 50-0 professional boxing record.
On the other hand, McGregor is on a mission to prove his doubters wrong and will try to cause one of the biggest surprises in sports history. The two-weight UFC champion last fought in 2016 against Eddie Alvarez and won via second round TKO.
