Jarrell Miller Told He Wouldn’t Beat Any ‘Top 30’ Heavyweight

Though formerly thought of as something of a problem for the heavyweight division, Jarrell Miller has now been told that he wouldn’t beat any of the top 30 heavyweights in the world.

Miller is a controversial figure who first came to the forefront of the division during the build-up to his ill-fated fight with Anthony Joshua in Madison Square Garden in June 2019.

He seemed to be the first man to ever get under Joshua’s skin and even shoved him at a pre-fight face-to-face. However, he infamously failed doping tests and was pulled from the card.

After failing a further drugs test later down the line, he served a two-year ban and got some wins under his belt before being back on the big stage in Saudi Arabia on the Day of Reckoning card. His fight with Daniel Dubois was one of the most intriguing in the build-up, and so it proved come fight night.

Despite weighing 333lbs, 100lbs more than his opponent, Miller was slowly but surely ground down and eventually stopped with eight seconds to go of the 10th and final round, leaving Dubois with a confidence-boosting victory and Miller very much out in the cold.

Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans, esteemed trainer and former Dubois coach Shane McGuigan has now made a damning statement about where Miller is currently at.

“Miller wouldn’t beat anyone in the top 30 in the world. The guy that knocked out the Russian dude [on the Day of Reckoning card], Agit Kabayel, he’d beat Miller. Miller is just heavy and walks you down. If you’ve only got four rounds in you [like he has] you’re going to get found out.”

Even after the fight, there was no love lost between the teams as Dubois’ trainer refused to shake the hand of Miller’s coach in light of what had been said in the build-up.
