It’s clear that not everybody in combat sports respects Jake Paul, former MMA star Nate Diaz being one of them.
Paul fought Anderson Silva to unanimous decision victory last night in what was the toughest test of his career.
The YouTuber turned boxer displayed a better gas tank than fans have seen before, as well as some evidence of improving technique. Having said that, Silva is still only considered a ‘part-time’ boxer and he is 47-years-old to Jake’s 25.
Many thought he might now go on to face a professional boxer to prove to the doubters that he has the skills to do so, however behind the scenes his next fight seems to already be brewing.
In his post-fight interview with ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, Paul alluded to an incident backstage with Nate Diaz – a fan-favourite MMA star who has recently left the UFC.
“I want Nate Diaz, who’s a b**ch. He tried to come into my locker room. He tried to cause some s**t, and then he always leaves the f***ng arena. So, Nate Diaz, stop being a b**ch and fight me.”
Now, footage of some of the altercation has surfaced via XcellentMMA. In it, Diaz appears to slap one of Paul’s entourage, identifiable because they were all wearing the same half white, half black outfits. The UFC legend can be heard telling the man to ‘back up’ after striking him.

Whilst it would make for an entertaining build up, boxing fans who are yet to fully accept Jake as a cruiserweight contender won’t be satisfied with the next man on his list being primarily a mixed martial artist again.
The controversial figure also called out Saul ‘Canelo’ Álvarez, which is unlikely to take place soon, if ever.
