Joseph Parker could explore other avenues after his summer fight against Joe Joyce officially fell through.
The heavyweight contest had been scheduled for July 2 at Wembley Arena, but Parker’s trainer Andy Lee is to become a father that month which effectively wrote the fight off.
Plan B looks like September for the two contenders to collide, but the New Zealander’s manager David Higgins hinted that other offers might not be too far away.
“There is no deal, no contract signed. There are other promoters chasing us hard with other good options.”
The fight had been announced during last month’s Tyson Fury-Dillian Whyte broadcast. A faceoff followed before a second one took place for cameras behind the scenes.
Parker, who had been working with Matchroom, is now a free agent after back-to-back wins against Dereck Chisora. The former WBO heavyweight champion is back in Auckland ticking over as he waits on fight news.
“You play the cards you are dealt … Joe’s not complaining,” Higgins said.
