Joseph Parker’s new UK backers are confident they can secure another world title opportunity for the New Zealander.
On Saturday night during Sky Sports broadcast of the Richard Riakporhe-Fabio Turchi card from Wembley Arena, BOXXER CEO Ben Shalom revealed he had signed the New Zealand heavyweight.
The former WBO world champion, trained by Andy Lee, looked like facing Joe Joyce this summer on BT Sport but their fight was called off.
Speaking of the new chapter in his career, Parker said: “In signing with Ben Shalom and BOXXER I’m excited for the next phase of my career, where I will become a two-time world champion on Sky Sports, the best TV platform in sports. I’ve had a great relationship with Sky Sports in the past, with many great fight nights against the leading British heavyweights – I’ll fight absolutely anyone put in front of me.”
Parker’s world title victory against Andy Ruiz in 2016 in New Zealand was shown live on Sky Sports.
Subscribers also watched the 30-year-old fight Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte as well as his first bout against Dereck Chisora.
