Premier Boxing Champions will partner with Amazon Prime for a multi-year rights agreement beginning in 2024.
Following Showtime’s exit from boxing after 37 years, Al Haymon’s PBC and its stable of fighters were left without a broadcast platform.
The decision – which had been rumoured for some time – saw many leading voices in the sport address the state of boxing and the investment from major platforms.
It had been a stellar 2023 in terms of big time match-ups for the US channel, beginning with Gervonta Davis versus Ryan Garcia followed by Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr’s undisputed welterweight fight.
There were suggestions that DAZN – currently broadcasting Matchroom and Golden Boy shows – could be in the running, but Amazon Prime was always mentioned alongside.
In a statement, Marie Donoghue, VP of US sports content and partnerships at Amazon said that the partnership was thrilling.
“We are thrilled to join with Premier Boxing Champions to bring the best boxers in the world to Prime Video, and to give more fans than ever the chance to experience these must-see events. With live coverage of PBC action throughout the calendar year, Prime Video continues to bring viewers in the U.S. and around the world the best in sports.”
The deal will feature both PPV events as well as PBC Championship Boxing throughout the year available in the US and selected countries to be announced. Paid for events will not require a Prime membership to purchase.
The partnership’s maiden fight night is set for March 2024. Over the course of the year, fans can expect the rematch between Crawford and Spence, the return of Gervonta Davis and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
