Peter Fury has made a brutally honest assessment of the women who have shared the ring previously with Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall – bluntly describing them as ‘crap.’
Speaking at the press conference for the now delayed fight for the undisputed middleweight world championship, Fury did not mince his words when responding to Shields’ criticism of Marshall’s resume.
“I would just like to add this – I think everybody in the division, that both of you have fought, are crap.
“That’s why both of them [Shields and Marshall] are sat here. Because these two are the two best – they’re the only two diamonds in a sack of s**t!”
🔥 Brutally honest, yet hilarious at the same time. @peterfury shuts down Team Shields's attempts to compare opponents. #ShieldsMarshall

Shields’ criticism of Marshall’s prior opponents had been a recurring theme throughout the build-up to the fight – however clearly Team Marshall are none too impressed with the names defeated by ‘The Gwoat’ on route to collecting three of the four middleweight world titles.
Fury went on to say that the winner of the historic fight would stand without argument as top dog in the 160lb division.
“This is why we’re here. These are two elite fighters – let’s get it on and see who the best in the division is. Because there’s no one else in it!”
With the fight now officially postponed due to the passing of the Queen on Thursday evening, boxing fans around the world will have their fingers crossed that both women still get the opportunity to establish themselves as #1.
