The former unified world heavyweight kingpin, Tyson Fury is currently stepping up his attempts to whip himself back into fighting shape and look to reclaim the heavyweight throne he sat in when he dethroned Wladimir Klitschko in late 2015.
Hatton embarked on a similar career trajectory, after almost three years away from the ring Hatton decided to take on Vyacheslav Senchenko.

That comeback attempt as quickly as it began on that occasion with the Ukranian forcing a stoppage of ‘The Hitman’ inside nine rounds.
Reflecting on his 2012 comeback, Hatton commented “My comeback didn’t end up in a win but I lost five stone coming back from depression and suicide and drink and drugs and the whole shebang,”
“I picked a harder opponent than I should have done. After what I’ve been through, that’s because I’m strong mentally and Tyson is the same. But the damage had already been done with me, I just hope it’s not been done with Tyson;” Hatton told The Daily Mail.
The Hitman lent a few words of wisdom to ‘The Gypsy King’ and encouraged him to not jump immediately back into the deep end with a live opponent.

Hatton believes that Fury shouldn’t look to take on an easy fight but shouldn’t look to tussle with an elite contender just yet either. Hatton believes that finding a balance in his opponent will be crucial.
“If I had Tyson, I wouldn’t pick someone he can blow over and I wouldn’t pick someone like I picked.
“I’d go somewhere in the middle so that you’re going to get a few rounds off to shake the rust off.”
“Someone durable that’s on the verge of the top 10, where it’ll get you just knocking on the door.
Hatton also added that Fury is strong-willed just like he is. He also suggested that the 6’9 conventional boxer is in better stead than he was because Fury’s comeback attempt is coming while the former champion is still in his twenties.

“But I don’t know because he’s so strong-willed, I think he might pick someone like I did. Don’t get me wrong, he’s 29.”
“I was 34, he’s younger so he might be able to get away with it… he definitely will not pick a blow over because he won’t have proved anything to himself.”
“He wants to prove he’s still got it. He’ll have to pick someone half decent but without picking someone before your time.”
