The Ryan Garcia Ostarine saga has taken the world of boxing by storm, representing the ever-present dirty dark cloud that continues to hang over the sport even when it appears to be flourishing. With Garcia maintaining his innocence, there has been another twist that brings the validity of a recently conducted test into question.
‘King Ry’ secured a career-best performance when he dominated Devin Haney back in April, upsetting the odds and silencing his doubters by putting an end to his rival’s undefeated record. However, that win did come with as asterisk as Garcia weighed in over three pounds overweight and lost the chance to become world champion as a result.
In the days that followed, that asterisk was multiplied tenfold when it was proven that Garcia had tested positive for Ostarine on both the day before and day of the fight.
Ever since, Garcia has claimed that he has been the subject of a conspiracy and denied any wrongdoing, instead believing that it was scandalous that the likes of Victor Conte – who served prison time for distributing steroids in the early 2000’s, should be in the position to help shape organisations such as the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association [VADA].
On his social media, Victor Conte revealed that the supplements that Garcia’s team sent off for testing were unsealed, suggesting that they could have been tampered with in order to wrongfully shift the blame from Ryan Garcia and onto the pharmaceutical producers.
“@Ryangarcia tested positive twice for Ostarine reported May 1, 2024. About May 15 two of his products were sent for testing. BOTH were positive for Ostarine. Seems to be NO RECEIPTS or CHAIN OF CUSTODY & both containers had BROKEN SEALS. IMO these are NOT CREDIBLE or ADMISSIBLE results.
“How @ryangarcia team can obtain credible supplement test results. Locate same lot # for BOTH of the SUSPECTED products & have them shipped directly to the lab SEALED. IF results are positive for Ostarine for BOTH PRODUCTS then you will have chain of custody & admissible test results.
“Why did @ryangarcia test powders from UNSEALED containers W/O chain of custody? IMO it seems possible that tampering may be involved. Strange that TWO products BOTH tested positive for ostarine. This isn’t how credible science is conducted. These results cannot be authenticated.
“Why did @ryangarcia not fully disclose there are NO PRODUCT RECEIPTS available & both containers had broken seals? The laboratory that did the tests gave a “disclaimer” about the credibility of results. IMO this is likely an attempt to pull a fast on the world of boxing.
“My prediction is @ryangarcia will NOT have samples tested from SEALED tubs of the two products he claims exposed him two Ostarine. Both products of same lot # should be purchased & sent directly to the WADA lab. If done I predict SEALED products would be negative for Ostarine.”
Ryan Garcia has not been silenced in regards to plans for his next fight, outlining an eyebrow-raising move up to super-welterweight where he would like to face 6’6” unified champion Sebastian Fundora.
