The most anticipated fight in the whole World Boxing Super Series tournament is without a doubt George Groves versus Chris Eubank Jr.
The WBA World super middleweight champion and the IBO World super middleweight titleholder have a history of gym wars and verbal jabbing. It was in the hopes of many that the two would eventually meet in the tournament for super middleweight supremacy.
Eubank Jr made quick work of Avni Yildirim in October via third round knockout and Groves ensured his path to the semi-finals by stopping Jamie Cox with a devastating body shot last month in London.
It’s a fight that some might say is the true main event of the tournament but nonetheless, the winner advances the final which take place in May.
Promoters Kalle and Nisse Sauerland announced earlier on Twitter that the fight will take place in February in the UK. According to the promoters, the venue will be announced next week.
We will announce the venue for #GrovesEubank next week. It will be UK and it will be February. Stay tuned….gonna be some build up! 🇬🇧🇬🇧#BattleOfBritain#AliTrophy

When speaking to Boxing News, Sauerland mentioned London and Manchester as possible host cities.
“We’ve got a few options. The issue is putting them in the right order. Eubank-Groves Manchester or London, Smith-Braehmer likely for Berlin. I can’t see that both semis will be in the north of England if one’s in Manchester,” told the promoter.
Apparently, they have been looking at football stadiums but the cold climate might play too big of a factor in this instance.
“There’s the football stadium idea but it’s really tricky in the season. It really is tricky in the season. I think certain people will moan and groan, people will be excited about it but ultimately everyone will still go. It’s one of those ones,” added Sauerland.
