Errol Spence Jr versus Terence Crawford is one of the most anticipated bouts in boxing, and one of the sport’s brightest stars, Shakur Stevenson, has weighed in with his prediction.
The two welterweight champions – Spence the WBA, WBC and IBF, Crawford the WBO – have been on a long and frustrating collision course.
After many false alarms, the fight that will see each man put his undefeated record on the line has finally been announced.
Speaking to FightHype.com, Stevenson first of all praised the matchmaking, proving that he was as excited for the bouts as boxing fans are, and saying he would be taking notes for his own campaign.
“Forget high skill level, they’re at the highest of skill levels … I’m definitely gonna be front row, right there so I can take my notes and learn from them dudes and take it on with me.”
Onto a prediction, and the two-weight world champion is siding with his friend, Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford.
“I gotta lot of love for Errol Spence, and I got a tremendous amount of love for my brother, Terence Crawford. I’m rocking with my brother at the end of the day, but nothing but love and respect to Errol. I can’t wait to watch the fight. I think it’s gonna be a classic.”
Stevenson went on to say that Crawford is the hardest worker in the gym he’s ever seen, and branded him a ‘true throwback fighter.’ Despite the level of both men, he sees a knockout finish.
“I think I’ll be leaning more towards a knockout. Both of them dudes are thoroughbreds. They’re gonna want to fight. No matter how much we picture the fight going, on the elite level that everybody’s putting it, I think both of them are itching to punch each other. It’s like fire versus fire in there.”
Spence and Crawford will lace up and face off on July 29 in Las Vegas.
