Teddy Atlas has weighed in on the upcoming heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury and Dereck Chisora this Saturday night, and highlighted the punch that he feels could end up causing Chisora the most trouble.
The trainer turned podcaster was speaking on his show The Fight when he broke down the fight and stated that the same shot that floored Dillian Whyte back in April could be the one to condemn ‘Del Boy’ to a similar fate at Tottenham Hotspurs’ stadium.
“On paper, it [Fury vs Chisora] isn’t supposed to be real competitive. Having said that, Chisora gives his all, he’s got a fan friendly style and he just comes with those looping right hands and left hooks and body shots.”
He better be careful of that uppercut from Fury. Just like Dillian Whyte got finished by that, I think that’s probably going to work really well for Fury.”
Chisora shipped several heavy uppercuts to Fury teammate Joseph Parker when the pair met last year, hitting the canvas on three occasions on route to a wide points loss.
Fury’s knockout of Whyte was perhaps the most devastating of his 23 career stoppages to date, with the ‘Gypsy King’ appearing to be now punching harder than ever before due to the work of Kronk trainer SugarHill Steward.
Many fans were underwhelmed by the choice of a seemingly faded Chisora as Fury’s December opponent, particularly after initial reports that talks were progressing well for the WBC champion to finally face Anthony Joshua in the biggest British fight of all time.
Fury has already defeated Chisora in comfortable fashion on two occasions when they met in their earlier careers and, with the former now regarded by many as the best heavyweight on the planet and the latter potentially past his best, few are expecting the trilogy bout to reach a different conclusion.
