Former world champion Timothy Bradley had admitted that there was one fight in his career that has changed him forever due to the damage that he sustained in the ring.
Bradley is now a popular pundit with a great knowledge of the sport. Before that, he was known for all action fights and for never shying away from anyone.
He embarked on his professional boxing journey in 2004 and began with a second-round TKO victory over Francisco Martinez. His illustrious career spanned until 2016 and culminated in a decision loss to Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas.
Throughout his tenure, Bradley amassed an impressive record of 33 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw, with 13 victories coming by way of knockout. He claimed world title belts in the 140 and 147-pound weight classes and crossed gloves with numerous top talents of his era.
Bradley was given his flowers in 2023 with his official induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame and has now been speaking about the hardest fight of his career on ProBox TV. It came in 2013 against Ruslan Provodnikov and was a hellacious battle packed with heavy hitting and back-and-forth drama. The fight ended in a unanimous points win for Bradley.
“After my fight with Ruslan Provodnikov I wasn’t the same fighter. The amount of damage that I took in that single fight alone, I was not the same fighter.
“I wasn’t able to take the shots on the chin regularly I was getting hurt by small guys. It only takes one fight people, sometimes that’s all it takes, not multiple, but one fight to change a fighter completely, chemically.”
Teddy Atlas then responded, telling Bradley that a lot of fights in his career gave him the right to be in the Hall of Fame but this one in particular was special.
“If you never did anything again, and you did a lot after that, but if you never did anything again, that fight and the heart, the soul, the spirit, the way you found a way to survey and win that fight, the lights were basically out, you were in a dark room, and instead of going into a corner, you kept searching around all over the place until you found the light.”
