Tommy Fury’s father, John, has revealed that negotiations for his son’s next fight have started, and it’s not a rematch with Jake Paul.
Tommy defended his famous family name by defeating Paul by majority decision back in February. Going into the bout, it was made public that the American had a rematch clause should he lose.
After the fight, all noise coming from both teams indicated that Paul would activate his option and the two would get it on again.
However, no official announcement came and now John Fury has said his son is in talks to fight British YouTuber, KSI.
Speaking to The Mirror via freebets, Fury said:
“We aren’t sure [about the rematch]. I have been in talks with the Sauerland brothers about a possible match-up with their man KSI. I had a meeting with them the other day and it went well. Let’s see what happens. I am still waiting to hear from them, but they did text me the other day saying they are really busy and they are on it.
If it can be done, we will do it. Whoever else wants to box Tommy, ring the number and get in touch. I don’t deal with the Jake Paul rematch, I am on a rest period and I have just left that to my lawyer. But I’m sure if it can be done, we can do it.”
KSI next faces Joe Fournier on May 13 at Wembley Arena as the main event of a Misfits boxing card.
Paul recently had a confrontation with Floyd Mayweather which has sparked speculation that the two could meet in the ring later this year.
