Former unified heavyweight world boxing champion, Tyson Fury, returned to the ring with a win on Saturday, April 11, as he easily breezed past Arslanbek Makhmudov atop a Spencer Brown-promoted card on Netflix.
A 37-fight veteran, Fury hadn’t fought since back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024, claiming retirement since then, but was without a win since his 2023 bout with Francis Ngannou, and no finish since his 2022 drubbing of Derek Chisora.
Regardless, he had too much for Makhmudov, out-landed his opponent at a rate of two shots to one, and even seemed to clown on the visiting Russian, who looked as one-paced as he seemed when boxing to a decision win over David Allen last time he was in Britain.
Fury’s low jab, uppercuts from inside, and hook shots all confounded Makhmudov, who showed throughout the fight he could take a shot, but also showed that he had nowhere near the level of variety Fury had, even when boxing at a level below his prime.
Fury won a unanimous decision with lopsided scores of 120-108 x 2 and 119-108.
