Tyson Fury has fired back at his old rival Wladimir Klitschko after Oleksandr Usyk revealed that he had spoken to the former heavyweight king about how to tackle the upcoming undisputed heavyweight title fight.
Fury and Usyk will finally do battle in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday 18 May, after the fight originally had to be postponed from February due a cut suffered by the ‘Gypsy King’ in sparring.
Usyk revealed earlier this week that he has spoken to Klitschko, who was famously dethroned by Fury for the world heavyweight titles in Germany back in 2015.
With just over a month to go until the fight with Usyk, Fury held a press conference in Morecambe, and had a defiant response to the two Ukrainians discussing the bout.
“That will be handy advice, how to lose to the Gypsy King. How can my old pal Wlad give anybody any advice? He would have used it himself if he had any idea how to beat me.
“It was an absolute one-sided boxing lesson I give to old Wlad. I believe Wlad was a very good champion just like this guy [Usyk] is.
“I said if I can’t beat old Wlad, I must be useless, I’ll say it again if I can’t Usyk I’m no good clearly. If Tyson Fury can’t beat Usyk, Tyson’s no good. I’m not going to pull any punches.”
Fury looked in great shape at the press conference following criticism for his performance against Francis Ngannou last time out, and one of the Gypsy King’s sparring partners has given a defiant prediction for the Usyk bout.
