Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk featured a stellar undercard which has seen two new world champions crowned ahead of the highly-anticipated undisputed heavyweight title showdown.
The packed bill was taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and prior to Fury and Usyk getting in the ring, featured some of the best boxing talent, as has been common practice with the events put together by Turki Alalshikh.
In the co-main event, Jai Opetaia defeated Mairis Briedis by unanimous decision to win the vacant IBF cruiserweight title after a bloody back and forth battle.
Both men had success during stages of the fight, but it was Opetaia who came out on top with the judges scoring it 117-111, 116-112, 116-112 in his favour, seeing him win back the title that he never previously lost, and take his professional record to 25-0.
The other world title fight on the undercard saw Anthony Cacace pull off a big upset as he stopped Joe Cordina to add the IBF super-featherweight title to his IBO crown.
The fight took a dramatic turn in round three when Cacace dropped Cordina after a huge onslaught, with the Welshman showing great bravery to get back to his feet and continue.
Despite Cordina’s best efforts, he couldn’t get a footing back in the fight, and the referee stepped in during the eighth round to wave the contest off and earn Cacace the memorable win.
Elsewhere, Agit Kabayel continued his resurgence in Saudi Arabia as he extended his unbeaten record with a stoppage win over previously undefeated Frank Sanchez.
Kabayel dropped his opponent twice in the seventh round, with Sanchez failing to beat the ten count on the second occasion, as Kabayel came out on top, adding to his impressive win over Arslanbek Makhmudov in Riyadh back in December.
Moses Itauma has been tipped for big things by Tyson Fury, and he picked up the first title of his professional career, stopping Ilja Mezencev inside two rounds to win the vacant WBO Intercontinental heavyweight title and move to 9-0 in the process.
Mark Chamberlain won the vacant WBC Silver lightweight title with a destructive first round knockout win over Joshua Wahab, while former world champion Sergey Kovalev came up short, getting dropped on his way to a unanimous decision defeat to Robin Safar.
Rounding up the card, David Nyika stopped Michael Seitz in the fourth round to win the vacant IBF International cruiserweight title, Isaac Lowe defeated Hasibullah Ahmadi on points, and Daniel Lapin scored a first round knockout win over Octavio Pudivitr.
