Unbeaten British Fighter Signs New Deal With Matchroom Boxing

Matchroom Boxing has managed to extended its working relationship with one of the UK’s most hotly-tipped young contenders.

Dalton Smith is an unbeaten star from Sheffield who has held the British super-lightweight title since 2022 and previously the Commonwealth super-lightweight title in 2023 and last time out scored an impressive knockout win over Jose Zelda at the weekend.

Matchroom announced the signing of a new contract with Smith, who has explained just why he has extended his deal with Eddie Hearn’s promotional outfit in a message posted on X.

“News is out, I’ve just extended my contract with Matchroom and you know, I’m delighted. I’ve been with them from my debut. And you know, over the years I’ve built good relationship with Eddie, Frank and all the team.

“I really feel part of the family now. I think I’m gunna have a long career with Matchroom. I’m in good hands and we wouldn’t be better with anyone else. They’re the best for a reason.

“I’ve said it to Eddie before, I’m a loyal person, and to find loyalty is hard to find in boxing. I’ve but that up with Eddie and Frank and all the team and I want to continue to do that. It be nice to start my career with them and then also finish at the end.”

The focus now will be on carefully working Smith towards a world title, although after his last victory, he and Hearn were quick to call out his British rival Adam Azim.

It was recently announced that the pair had been ordered to fight for both the British and European titles, though Hearn has taunted their rivals by saying he thinks they will pull out of the contest.
