Oleksandr Usyk has established himself as both the cruiserweight and heavyweight great of this generation but as the career of Ukrainian mastermind edges towards it’s close, there remains one lone match-up that will still tickle his interest following his rematch with Tyson Fury.
Earlier this year, the 37-year-old scored a legendary win over previously undefeated WBC title-holder Tyson Fury to become boxing’s first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era and the first of any kind since 1999.
Now, the pair are set for a rematch and if the contest is half as entertaining as their first encounter, then fans will surely be satisfied.
Yet, considering his extraordinary amateur career, as well as his unbeaten runs at cruiserweight and heavyweight, Usyk undeniably has miles on the clock and has nothing left to prove.
As a result, many fans are questioning whether the southpaw technician would continue in the sport if he was to defeat ‘The Gypsy King’ for a second time.
However, speaking with Champion, Usyk’s manager Egis Klimas admitted that a proposed rematch with current IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois remains as the only tempting proposal in the sport for his fighter – hoping to remove any doubt of his win in their controversial first meeting.
“When Oleksandr beats Tyson for the second time, there will be no more interesting boxers left in his weight category, except for Daniel Dubois. He is the IBF title holder. Many people still remember the first fight and that controversial blow. It would be a perfect rematch, a fight for the title of absolute world champion,”
Dubois famously floored Usyk for almost four minutes when they went toe-to-toe in Ukraine last year but the referee ruled the shot as a low blow and saved Usyk’s blushes.
Debate time again:

Since then, Dubois has turned a new corner and become the most in-form fighter in the division, with knockout wins over each of Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua, claiming and defending the IBF crown during that time.
Usyk-Dubois II would likely be a second undisputed heavyweight title showdown in as many years and the younger Brit would assumably have more backers this time around.
Although. Usyk must first get past Fury on December 21st before he can considering an attempt at derailing the progress of the destructive ‘Triple D’.
