Willie Monroe Jr’s trainer, T.J Nolan, was not happy about what happened to his fighter on stage at the weigh-ins.
“He [Billy Joe’s son] actually threw two punches and a kick. That’s just a definition of the character of what his [Billy Joe] personality is. I guess that’s the Gypsy lifestyle to teach your kids how to be disrespectful. For us coming to another country, it’s not very good hospitality,” said Nolan.
Nolan suggests that the incident might cause further problems for Frank Warren, who is promoting the event.
“It’s actually a bad look for Frank Warren. Fighters are gonna see that, especially American fighters, and might not come over,” he said.
Nolan then brings up the fact that how bad would have things gotten if Saunders’ kid had got hurt during the incident.
“How bad would it be if something happened to that little boy? It would have been really bad. We carry our selves like gentlemen. His antics do not put any fear into our hearts,” commented Nolan.
Here’s the full interview with Nolan. He also discusses the incident what happened at the open workouts and explains why this fight matters to Monroe Jr and what is the bigger cause behind it.
