Wayne Rooney has been a huge fan of boxing throughout his life, and in a shock move it appears he could be set to finally step through the ropes himself.
According to The Mirror, Rooney is in talks with Misfits Boxing about potentially fighting on one of the upcoming events, which is known for featuring influencer boxers and celebrities such as KSI and Logan Paul.
Rooney was recently sacked as Birmingham City manager last month, and is said to be weighing up his options as he waits to see if another job could be on the horizon.
The Manchester United and England legend walked out Ricky Hatton for his fight with Jose Luis Castillo back in Las Vegas in 2007, and has also trained alongside the Smith brothers over the years.
Misfits Boxing is spearheaded by promoter Kalle Sauerland, with events broadcast worldwide on DAZN. The KSI vs. Tommy Fury event that took place in October was reported to have sold over one million PPV buys.
Whether Rooney does indeed decide to swap football boots to boxing gloves remains to be seen, but it is certain to be watched by many fans if it does happen.
