WBC world heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder (39-0 38 KO) has once again touched on the possibility of facing the Briton slugger, Dillian Whyte (22-1) and has dismissed the matchup as a ‘mismatch’.
It is no secret that following his fourth title defence in his rematch with Bermane Stiverne, Wilder has pressed for a unification showdown with the unified IBF, IBO and WBA (Super) heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
However, Eddie Hearn the promoter of both Whyte and Joshua instead has attempted to first make Whyte vs Wilder on British soil in an attempt to build Wilder’s profile ahead of that potential heavyweight unification showdown. Wilder has since responded by saying he’d have no problem first dismissing the challenge of Whyte if the contract for the fight stipulates an Anthony Joshua fight will follow.
“We have already spoken, I have already made my terms. If the UK fans and Eddie Hearn want to send their blockage to their cash cow, then add Joshua to the contract and I would love to whoop Dillian Whyte.
That’s an easy fight, that’s a fight I win in my sleep, a fight I win with one hand tied behind my back,” Wilder told On The Ropes Boxing Radio.

“Whyte is a one trick pony, he’s just a brawler, that’s it. Even Eddie Hearn doesn’t want to commit to Whyte, look how he’s got him hanging, he goes fight by fight with him. Dillian Whyte is just like a dirty rag that’s hanging out of Eddie Hearn’s pocket. I guarantee if they put Joshua through that contract with Whyte, you will see a fight, I will be there.”
Talk has been rife this week suggesting Eddie Hearn has had positive opening discussions with Wilder’s team to discuss the Joshua unification this week while he was out in America promoting his first ever stateside card in the Daniel Jacobs – Luis Arias middleweight showdown.
Hearn has since shared that those talks were positive and it seems as though real movement is expected sooner rather than later to deliver the eagerly anticipated world title unification between two monstrous punchers.
