Emanuel Navarrete, a former titlist at 122, 126 and 130lbs, struggled on his only previous trip to 135, losing a split decision to Denys Berinchyk in May 2024.

Why Top Rank may not risk Zepeda Navarrete
That is exactly the problem. Sending Navarrete, who still holds the WBO title at 130lbs, back up to face a pressure fighter of Zepeda’s output is a gamble. Top Rank has a safer route: WBO lightweight champion Abdullah Mason sat ringside for the Roach fight and offers a natural unification instead. The buzz only underlines William Zepeda’s emergence at lightweight, where his workrate has made him must-see.
As Boxing News 24 noted, a unification with O’Shaquie Foster at 130 may make more sense for Navarrete. The fans, though, will keep dreaming of the war Crawford described.
