There are two huge heavyweight fights this weekend and in one of them Zhilei Zhang has promised to send his opponent Joseph Parker ‘to hell.’
The fight takes place on the undercard of Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou out in Saudi Arabia. It brings together two big men who have had impressive years. Zhang, for his part, twice bested Brit Joe Joyce – a man who had barely been hurt before, let alone stopped.
He did it in the mid-rounds and then the third round across two devastating contests in 2023. Although he is mandatory for the belt held by Fury, he is now taking on Parker, a former world champion instead.
Parker also got the best win of his career in late 2023 when he managed to inflict a comprehensive points loss on Deontay Wilder who looked unable to pull the trigger on his famous right hand and barely landed a glove on Parker.
Speaking to Boxing News, Zhang has sent his latest threats to Parker.
“My training camp has been really good. But I look at it as a turning camp of hell, and now the gates to hell are open, big Bang is coming with the fire and it’s going to burn the opponent down.”
He was then asked why he was risking his mandatory status against Parker.
“I’m not afraid of anyone, I want to stand up against anyone, my goals haven’t changed, it’s the world title, and I can see myself getting closer and closer to that.”
