As he continues to try and get back into the boxing ring and have meaningful fights, Conor Benn has spoken out about a possible trilogy fight involving his long-time rival Chris Eubank.
Infamously, Benn and Eubank were due to fight in October 2022, but adverse drug test findings on Ben’s side meant the fight was canned at the last minute.
Since then a war of words has raged on, the pair have allegedly been close to agreeing to fight once more, but ultimately nothing has come off as Benn also tries to clear his name and regain a British boxing license.
Now there is talk of a third fight between the two men, and Benn isn’t impressed.
Speaking to Boxing Social, Benn was asked if he watched the second fight.
“Yeah, I was there. I thought it was absolutely dreadful. Liam Smith threw what, 10 punches a round. He threw 50 punches in that fight. You tell me if there’s anything impressive about that.”
He then claimed he would have done much more damage, much quicker.
“If you can’t decapitate someone within 10 rounds of someone throwing 10 punches a round, what are you doing? If someone threw 10 punches at me I can assure you their head is getting taken clean off their neck.”
If the pair fought a third time, Benn was sure who he would back.
“I’d put my money back on Smith.”
Given Smith’s injury woes in the build-up to the second fight, a trilogy match might well prove interesting.
